Earth Day 2008

In September 1969, at a conference in Seattle, Washington, U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson announced that in the spring of 1970 there would be a nationwide grassroots demonstration on the environment. Senator Nelson first proposed the nationwide environmental protest to thrust the environment onto the national agenda. On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was held.
Earth Day is meant to be a focus on the protection and preservation of our planet. Just as the Fourth of July reminds us to love our country, Earth Day reminds us to love and care for the Earth and our fellow creatures. There are many things we can all do to help. Think Green. Go Green. Celebrate Gaia!
